Active recall with support

Build Spanish phrases before testing yourself

Guided Recall helps you practise Spanish out loud in three simple steps: look, repeat, then recall from memory.

Instead of testing yourself cold on new phrases, Guided Recall gives you a supportive ramp. You load the phrase in your mind and voice it out loud first, making the final recall test feel less discouraging.

Free A1 practice available. A2 and B1 available with Pro.

Why easy Spanish can still feel hard to say

Recognising a phrase is not the same as producing it in conversation. Many language learners spend months completing multiple-choice exercises or tapping word banks in apps. While this is great for building reading comprehension, it trains passive recognition rather than active recall.

In real conversations, there are no word banks, multiple-choice options, or clues to prompt you. You have to retrieve the entire phrase from memory. That is why even basic A1 Spanish can feel hard to say when speaking. You are forcing your brain to execute a retrieval task it has never practised out loud.

How Guided Recall works

Guided Recall breaks each speaking card down into three clear phases to build confidence.

1. Look: See the Spanish answer first so your brain can load the phrase.

2. Repeat: Say it out loud and get used to the rhythm of the phrase.

3. Recall: Hide the answer and try to say it from memory.

Still active recall, just less brutal

Guided Recall is not multiple choice and not passive recognition. The learner still has to say the phrase out loud and retrieve it from memory during the final step.

The difference is that you get a confidence-building ramp before the final recall attempt. Instead of trying to retrieve a phrase cold and feeling frustrated when you freeze, you build the phrase step-by-step.

Recall Mode or Guided Recall?

Spanish Unstuck offers two practice styles to fit your level and energy. Both styles support the same goal: getting Spanish phrases out of your head and into speech.

Recall Mode

Try to say the Spanish from memory first. Best when you want a fast, direct challenge to test your retrieval.

Guided Recall

Look, repeat, then try from memory. Best when you are struggling with a phrase, learning it for the first time, or building confidence.
